HOOKERS (HOK)

HARRY GRANT - $691,600

Hard to go past a player of this quailty and sure to be one of the most popular from the outset. Did deliver the most points over any other hooker in 2024 with an average of 70.7 points. Downside is his high value cost of $691.6K and the likelihood GRANT plays Origin for Queensland this season. Nonetheless, he does run the spine with a few high calibre players for the STORM and will score plenty of cheap points running out of dummy-half and feeding his halves.

DAMIEN COOK - $662,300

Switches clubs, leaving the RABBITOHS for the DRAGONS, and that may see an invigorated player steering a new team around the park. The Dragons went ok last season, but what can we expect from the former NSW hooker? Isn't getting any younger and may need to share the role with Jacob Liddle. Also comes at a very high price, but a quality player all the same who can score well on a regular basis.

CONNOR WATSON - $583,000

Sure to be a popular pick starting for the ROOSTERS and able to play 2RF or HOOKER, so dual position is a real bonus. Will be operating behind a strong Roosters pack and this is a team who know how to charge up the field and score points. Expected to gain plenty of minutes, so at 100K less than the top two, he may be a wise selection to start with. May share the role with Brandon SMITH, however, Robbo seems to apply Smith as a roving 2RF and he's out injured for a while.

SANDON SMITH - $237,600

Gains a royal opportunity and dual position so likely to see a role in the halves at the ROOSTERS. Can run metres, break the line and kick well, so at $237K will likely be in at least 50% of starting sides at either hooker or halfback. Probably worth selecting in the latter role at this price and leave the dual position of Hooker open for use further down the line. May not end up the points scoring dynamo many would like to see, but talented enough to feature and increase in value.

PETER MAMOUZELOS - $302,900

Takes over the role vacated by the stalwart Damien COOK at the RABBITOHS, and at only $302K will be a popular bench selection. Only a small body, however can zip around the park swiftly and has been waiting for his moment for a few years. Will be feeding an attacking backline and sure to be well coached by the master Wayne Bennett, who can bring the best out of young players. At a starting price of $302K he looks like a steal and a good pick up to begin the season.

FRONT ROW FORWARD (FRF)

ADDIN FONUA-BLAKE - $706,500

The expensive big boppers contain a number of consistently good players who perform admirably, week in and week out, but is hard to go past AFB who was highly impressive in his time with the NZ WARRIORS. Now with the CRONULLA SHARKS after wanting to return to Sydney, he should play a major part in their future success. Can rack up big metres, has a great sidestep for such a big boy, and does know how to cross the try line. The only drawback is the $706K price, but you could do worse bypassing this guy for another expensive FRF. Good buy as he won't play Origin in 2025.

PAYNE HASS - $669,200

Has been a FRF points scoring machine for a number of years and looms as a set and forget selection. Only 30K less but unlike AFB, HASS will be absent through the Origin period and miss a few games. Despite this, you can be guaranteed close to an average 70 points each week if he claims the same kind of minutes. The BRONCOS capitulated last season after losing Adam Reynolds and will need to start as they mean to go on. HASS will be a big part of that equation and he will need to go hard early in the season.

TERRELL MAY - $597,500

After impressing in last year’s NRL season for the SYDNEY ROOSTERS, Terrell May will no longer be part of the club for 2025. May is now ready to embark on his new journey with new club WEST TIGERS, and he will have a point to prove after being dumped by the Bondi Boys. Young but keen, MAY has a big body, is highly mobile and a great additional to the TIGERS front row stocks. Still a little expensive at $597K he will need to show her can cut it with the best and likely to give his all. Appears a popular early season candidate.

ROYCE HUNT - $249,000

The Sharks granted Hunt an early release from his contract on allowing him to sign a contract with the Tigers which stretches until the end of the 2027 season. He will join TERRELL MAY to make up a formidable FRF combination, with coach Benji Marshall wanting to see HUNT play more minutes - and that's great news for SUPERCOACH'S. At only $249K he is a bargain buy and well worth including in your rotation off the bench. Looks excellent value overall.

TOM AMONE - $232,600

Joins the CANTERBURY BULLDOGS from Leigh Leopards and returns to Australia a different player. The 27-year-old spent three years at the English club, establishing himself as one of Super League’s premium front-rowers having first helped Adrian Lam’s side to promotion up from the Championship. 13kg leaner and more experienced makes him a dangerous player and a great pick up at only $232K. Lock him into the bench as he will be a major influence at the club.

SECOND FRONT ROW FORWARD (2RF)

ISAIAH PAPALI'I - $585,500

Didn't play his best football at the TIGERS, however we expect Ivan Cleary will reignite his career at the PANTHERS and turn him back into that dynamic player he once was. Under the PANTHERS program, good players become great, and we know just what this bullocking Kiwi forward is capable of. At $585K he is a good pick up as long as Cleary allows him the minutes we want to see. Plenty of depth at the club, and in this position, so hopefully we see PAPALI'I make the starting side, which is the absolute key.

KEAON KOLOMATANGI - $619,200

Will be overlooked by many here, but a dynamo forward who can make big metres and rack up points with ease. Can go missing at times and drop his head, but when this RABBITOHS side is running hot, KOLOMATANGI is typically running hard and aiming for the tryline. Not cheap at $619K, although could be a point of difference (POD) based on his ability on the edge. Will possibly play Origin which is the major issue, but a player worth considering in your squad.

CORY HORSBURGH - $355,500

Was touted for a switch to the TIGERS, however sticky Ricky has kept his man, and big red will be a popular buy leading into this season. Goes extra hard, and despite being a little psycho, reflecting his ginger rage, he is a good player at his best. As a dual position player he is a solid buy at only $355K, but only if Sticky allows him fair minutes per game.

JACOB PRESTON - $609,200

A tough, nuggety player who has cemented his position at the BULLDOGS after a breakout rookie year in 2023. At just over $600K he is a fine purchase based on his ability and he knows how to sniff out the tryline often enough. Broke his jaw in March 2024, but returned to form late in the season and always runs like an old-school forward wanting to create something positive. Ideal player to cover the Origin period, so we like his style and will lock him in.

DEMITRIC VAIMAUGA - $232,600

Outstanding rookie forward Demitric Vaimauga has locked in his time with the NZ WARRIORS until the end of the 2028 NRL season. While recovery from knee surgery prevented him returning to the field until midway through the 2024 season, Vaimauga quickly impressed in eight appearances for the club’s New South Wales Cup side before being recalled to the NRL lineup for the last four matches of the year. Brings energy and aggression to his game on both sides of the ball and could be ready for a breakout season.

HALFBACK (HFB)

NATHAN CLEARY - $811,500

If you overlook CLEARY early in the season and he goes large in the opening weeks, then it's unlikely you will ever recover that lost ground. Can kick, run, create, rack up try assists at will and pot the goals through as the ultimate professional. Will be missing in action through the Origin period, but he is just too good to dismiss and can hit 100 points with ease. At $811K CLEARY is a significant investment, but this key position requires expertise and only the best will do. Lock in the chin for 2025 and reap the long term benefits of a champion playmaker.

NICHO HYNES - $735,500

The wet-haired prince is a sublime footballer at best and we expect him to have another great season for the SHARKS. Definitely some deficiencies when his team fail to go forward, however he can offer a brilliant game and control play very well when in dominant form. Comes at a big price of $735K, but if you're not a CLEARY fan then he is nearly 80K cheaper and can match him in points when the boys from the Shire fire up and go big. Fairly low risk early on and could upgrade or downgrade dependent on who stands out over the season. Will play Origin the main downside.

TANAH BOYD - $329,600

Joins the WAH'S for season 2025 and steps into the boots of one of the clubs favourite sons in SHAUN JOHNSON. Penned a two year deal coming from the GOLD COAST TITANS where he amassed 69 games in first grade. Likely to become the first choice half based on his ability, as BOYD is a slick ball carrier and has a reasonably solid kicking game. If he can focus on his strengths then could he a very good selection at a low price of $329K. Does need to go to another level.

FIVE-EIGHTH (5/8)

CAMERON MUNSTER - $609,000

Controls the Storm like a Sargent Major and expects nothing but full commitment from his players, as well as himself. Will never die trying as he is a powerful 5/8 who gets involved in much of the play and is always attempting to create something. Tough as a brick shithouse with the mental fortitude to match and rarely takes a backward step, even when crunched. Plays a pivotal role in Origin and quite pricey at $609K, but you can't go far wrong with a player of this calibre who steered them to a grand final in 2024.

JACK WIGHTON - $486,700

Was left out of this role stuck our in the centres until the RABBITOHS finally dumped the coach, and from then on tried hard to make the position his own. Has played Origin for NSW at 5/8, so he is accustomed to being a playmaker and creating opportunities. Will need to really step up to the plate this year and Bennett may be able to bring our the best in him. Can play centre as dual position, and cross the tryline with deft running skills, so a good buy at $486K.

LUKE METCALF - $443,000

Suffered a long term injury last season which really cost the WARRIORS dearly, but now gets his chance to shine after recovering and finishing the season on a high. Looked in fine shape controlling play along side JOHNSON early in 2024 and his running game is excellent when he hits the line and looks for support runners. Will need his forwards to launch a platform and from there we may see the best of him. Risk involved if the WAH'S fail to fire early on, but at $443K he doesn't appear overpriced based on ability.

CENTRE/WING (CTW)

CAMPBELL GRAHAM - $505,600

Lost all of last season for the RABBITOHS due to a sternum injury, and boy did they miss his hard running and rock solid defence. Should resume here really to reestablish his position at centre and we expect big things from him now back to full fitness. GRAHAM was brilliant in 2023 before the injury slowed him down and the Bunnies collapsed badly in the latter part of the season, however he will have a sharp young winger outside and will look to set him up as often as possible. The $505K isn't too bad if he can recapture that 2023 form, but the BUNNIES will need to play better footy.

ZAC LOMAX - $773,800

Has signed a four year deal with the PARRAMATTA EELS after departing the DRAGONS, and the Kangaroo debutant in 2024 did come across as one of their best last season. A versatile type, LOMAX can kick goals and run like a 2RF over 80mins. Does come at a high market price of $773K, but he does score tries and kick his own points home. Likely to try and standout at the EELS, and they really need a player such as this individual in their line-up. Top notch value.

JAXON PURDUE - $257,000

NORTH QUEENLAND'S 2024 rookie of the year Jaxon Purdue is in a three-way battle to pair Kangaroos star TOM DEARDEN in the Cowboys halves this season, and he does look the frontrunner with JAKE CLIFFORD having surgery for a hernia last week. PURDUE hasn’t put a foot wrong since being granted his opportunity to debut in Cowboys colours last year, playing both in the centres and at fullback, and thats where we loom to lock him in. At $257K you can't go too far wrong if he gains some game time throughout the season and/or at Origin time.

TYRONE MUNRO - $379,500

Like his centre teammate inside him, MUNRO missed much of 2024 with a foot injury and struggled to get back on the park. The young winger looked brilliant as a rookie when given his chance in 2023, showing some deft touches and amazing speed out wide. If Bennett creates a game plan designed to open up a match, then this guy may end up being the recipient of plenty of tryscoring opportunities.

JACK BIRD - $379,700

Comes over from the TIGERS after falling out of favour with DRAGONS coach Shane Flanagan, and if the journeyman can score a starting spot, he may be the perfect SUPERCOACH buy. In the twilight of his career, BIRD is adamant he has plenty more to offer, but it will be interesting as to where MARSHALL aims to best use the utility back. Can play in the forwards or even the halves at a pinch, so at $397K he will be popular as a 2RF dual position player. Worth considering as a cut price dual with a mountain of experience.

ROBERT TOLA - $198,800

The rookie youngster will look to make his NRL first grade debut in 2025, and many are expecting him to make an impact after the loss of SUALII to union. An U19s QLD Maroons representative, Toia has been regarded as one of the most exciting prospects coming through the club's ranks, and big things are expected of the 20-year-old in the coming years. Gets a crack in the big time then likely to take his opportunity and at a bargain basement price of $198K just has to be a cheapie inclusion.

FULLBACK (FLB)

JAMES TEDESCO - $920,200

Harder than a brick wall and a brilliant fullback at best who consistently racks up high scores, but he is the most expensive player in SUPERCOACH and will consume nearly 10% of your starting salary cap. TEDDY is alway lurking behind his forwards and searching for an opportunity to go through a gap and split the game wide open. A workhorse player, TEDESCO has been one of those rare SUPERCOACH diamonds that you can rely on. Comes with a high price tag of $920K, but having the best at the back often sees your score go from mediocre to high level by the end of the weekend. Pretty greedy, which is a bonus points wise.

TOM TRBOJEVIC - $875,600

Can be injury prone, however at his best TOMMY TURBO is pure SUPERCOACH gold. Often goes on a point scoring spree, and likely TEDDY is alway looking to get involved. Tough not to go with one of these two brilliant players, but which one will serve you best early on in the season? While in a fit state it may well be TURBO with the MANLY SEA EAGLES notoriously strong our of the blocks. At $875K he is only slightly cheaper than TEDDY but a good buy all the same and likely to offer a similar output. Needs to stay on the park.

KALYN PONGA - 790,300

Was on fire for a part of the season but can drift in and out of games at times playing behind this KNIGHTS pack. Despite this PONGA is sublime at best and can create something out of nothing. Has a pretty decent average of 85.7 compared to TEDDY'S 94 points, and thats the difference you have to weigh up and consider when locking in a fullback. At $790K PONGA will be popular to begin with as players look to upgrade after Origin in the hope the other two fall in value from their intial opening price.

ISAIAH IONGI - $232,600

Isaiah Iongi offers significant value as a fullback, especially at his affordable starting price. Former Panthers young gun Iongi is looking to fill the huge shoes left by Eels skipper Clint Gutherson’s departure to the Dragons, and as a starting fullback he comes at a rock bottom $232K. The 21-year-old has scored 17 tries in 59 games for Penrith in reserve grade and has the speed, skill and footwork to be a livewire in the NRL in years to come. A real money-maker.

CASH COWS 🐄

XAVIER WILLISON (2RF) - $472,000

Xavier Willison is poised for a breakout season with the Broncos, particularly if veteran Martin Taupau departs. Willison was in good form last season, playing in seven games, but missed his opportunity after injury again struck.

KULIKEFU FINEFEUIAKI (TBC) - $318,000

Dolphins prospect Kulikefu Finefeuiaki is generating buzz as a potential cash cow for 2025. The 20-year-old powerhouse, known as “Kuli”, will join the Dolphins until the end of 2027.

BILLY SMITH (CTW) - $317,200

Billy Smith is an outside back with immense potential for the Roosters, unfortunately plagued by injuries that have held him back. After a 2024 campaign that saw glimpses of his ability, Smith could solidify his spot in 2025.

SANDON SMITH (HFB/HOK) - $237,600

Sandon Smith's dual-position flexibility as a halfback and hooker makes him an attractive pick. Currently competing for a starting role with the Roosters, his low price point is appealing.

JOSH SCHUSTER (2RF) - $265,100

Josh Schuster is one of the more intriguing cash cows due to his price and upside as a second-row forward. However, his value depends on maintaining form and fitness.

PETER MAMOUZELOS (HOK) - $302,000

Peter Mamouzelos enters the season with a strong ownership rate among SuperCoach players. As a hooker, his consistent work rate and potential for attacking stats make him a reliable pick.

JESSE MCLEAN (CTW) - $234,900

Jesse McLean represents excellent value as a likely replacement for the outgoing Sunia Turuva. His low price point allows SuperCoach managers to free up salary cap space while gaining a player with potential for rapid price growth.

MICHAEL WAQA (FRF) - $198,800

Michael Waqa is a raw talent from the Dolphins' development system. Known for his physical presence, Waqa could prove to be a revelation if he gets NRL minutes
